The California Scholarship Federation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among middle and high school students in California. There are approximately 1500 chapters in middle school and high schools throughout the state, and each chapter is comprised of students members who meet eligibility requirements. Each chapter is led by a staff adviser.
Eligible students become members by submitting applications based on their report card grades. Membership is for one semester, and membership drives are held each semester within established periods dictated by the State bylaws.
Expectations of members
Each membership semester, members are expected to:
1. attend at least 1 seminar held during tutorial
2. complete a minimum of 5 volunteer hours
3. complete chapter dues
Members also have an opportunity to earn Sealbearer status, which is an honors award provided at graduation.

Academic requirements
In order to qualify for CSF Membership, a student must submit an application and show that they've earn a total of 10 points with their semester grades from approved academic courses. The list of approved courses can be viewed below in the Course List section.
Point Value Designation:
A = 3 points
B = 1 point
C = No points provided
D/F = disqualified regardless of academic/non-academic course
*All HONORS/AP courses are provided an extra point
